Hurricane Serena

The Nike Tennis “Endless Summer” campaign. We shot Serena Williams on the only day in 2014 when it rained. No kidding… in the middle of the worst drought in recorded history came a storm unlike any in recent memory—and on our shoot day! With the storm looming and no viable indoor shooting options, we were racing against time. We solved the problem by commissioning an enormous tent to be built over the entire court the night before the shoot! But unfortunately, the tent was no match for the deluge. The morning of the shoot arrived, the court was soaked, and Serena was on her way to the location. With the help of our hard-working crew (and client!), some squeegees, and a LOT of towels, the court was dried and ready to go just moments before Serena stepped on set.
